Proposals are invited for presentations to a Workshop on the topic of International Cross-Disciplinary Research Collaboration in Science and Music, to be held at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 to Saturday, September 3, 2011.

Presentations may be of up to 30 minutes in duration (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion) on any specific topic which falls within this field. Proposals from musicians, scholars or scientists (including postgraduate students) in any discipline are welcome. Please send proposals, in the form of a 250-word abstract and a short (up to 100-word) biographical summary, to Prof Graham Hair, Science and Music Research Group, Rankine Building Room 506, University of Glasgow, 79–85 Oakfield Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8LT or (preferably) email them using this link by Sunday July 31, 2011.

Contributors may address aspects of ‘Cross-Disciplinary Research Collaboration in Science and Music’ from the perspective of their own disciplines, or propose dialogue with disciplines whose insights might provoke them to see their own work from new perspectives or in a broader context. The Workshop is funded by Universitas 21, and the associated performances by the Performing Rights Society Foundation and the Scottish Arts Council. The Workshop will include invited presentations from speakers and performers from the UK, the EU, the USA and elsewhere. Details of these contributors will be announced soon on the Workshop website (http://www.n-ism.org/CIM2011/WCRCSM).

Travel and accommodation subsidies may be provided for selected delegates, especially graduate students. For details contact Professor Hair here.

NB: Registration for CIM11 and the two concurrent conferences (AOL and WCRCSM) is available for an all-in fee of £195 (students £95). Participants in AOL and WCRCSM whose proposals are submitted before April 29 and whose proposals are accepted will have the registration fee waived.
